YMCA Hawker is at the centre of Kingston's Holi celebrations this year, with two separate events over the coming weekends.

Online yoga platform TheCrazeGroup and non-profit community interest group Namaste Kingston will be holding their own Holi events on consecutive Saturdays (16 March and 23 March respectively).

This Saturday (16 March) sees TheCrazeGroup host DJ Bhav at the Hawker Centre, along with kids activities, a raffle, and a free colour pack with your ticket.

The festival will also see local food and gift stalls, a bar, and even a cricket net challenge courtesy of Hampton Wick Royal Cricket Club.

Chairman Sam Kemp has said the club is "delighted" to be involved in the celebrations.

Holi is a Hindu celebration of colour and love held every spring, beginning Monday 25 March this year.

Founder Surbhi Agarwal started TheCrazeGroup as an online yoga and fitness instructor platform during the pandemic.

The group has since expanded, and has run in-person celebrations of Holi since 2022.

However TheCrazeGroup is not alone in their Hawker-Holi plans, with local charity Namaste Kingston holding their own festival called Rangotsav the following Saturday (23 March).

Namaste's event will feature award-winning DJ Kunal alongside a live dhol – a double-sided Indian drum.

Guests will receive a Holi colour pack and a traditional Holi drink known as thandai with their ticket, while younger attendees can look forward to unlimited candy floss.

Mayor of Kingston Cllr Diane White will also be in attendance according to Madhur Hemnani, the organisation's director.

The charity is one of Kingston's youngest, being founded in September last year.

Despite this, they have already held a successful community event with their Diwali festival, seeing over 350 visitors.

Whether you attend one event or both, there will be plenty of celebrations around Kingston this Holi season.
