Shops, hairdressers, gyms, and outdoor hospitality are all now back open for business in Kingston.

And the town centre and high street were thriving today, with shoppers queuing up to get into much-missed outlets such as TK Maxx and John Lewis.

Local photographer Oliver Monk was on hand to capture the bustling high street and lively cafes and you can see his pictures in the gallery above.

Social distancing restrictions were relaxed by the UK government today, meaning customers are now allowed into non-essential shops and close contact services like hairdressers and beauty salons can now resume.

Eating and drinking is now allowed in the outdoor areas of pubs and restaurants - though groups are still limited to a maximum of six people or two households.
