Bakery chain, Gail's, officially opened its new branch in Surbiton today (Thursday, 20 November).

Opening at 7am on Thursday morning, the new bakery, located in the site of the former Lloyds bank on Claremont Road, saw locals flooding in to check out the new space and it continued to be busy into the afternoon.

The Surbiton Gail's boasts a bright and spacious seating area with lots of tables and chairs for customers to enjoy their purchases in.

It also has a long front counter exhibiting a variety of freshly baked goods and other snacks.

At the back, Gail's bakers can be seen working their magic to create the bakery's food items.

Gail's also hopes to have an outdoor seating area for its Surbiton branch should Kingston Council approve its licensing application.

The pavement license application was submitted to Kingston Council and requests permission to have two tables, four chairs, and a bench on the pavement areas to the front and side of the shopfront for the purpose of consuming food or drink.

This outdoor seating area, if approved, would operate from 7am – 7pm seven days a week.

The application is currently under review, and members of the public have until 26 November to submit feedback here.

Gail's Surbiton is open from 7am - 7pm from Monday to Saturday, but will close at 6pm on Sundays.
