A host of fun and affordable activities head to Kingston this summer aimed to help families keep their young ones entertained during the school holidays.

The Thumbs Up It's Thursday programme kicks off tomorrow, 28th July, for children aged 2-11. The range of activities being offered is courtesy of Kingston First, the town centre's Business Improvement District.

The activities will range from storytelling to arts and crafts sessions to cupcake decorating and circus skills.

Local businesses such as the Bentall Centre, LUSH, Cass Art and Turk's Launches have already pledged their involvement to the summer programme.

Top Kingston eateries including Las Iguanas, The Cheeky Pea and Busaba will all be offering 'Kids Eat Free' deals on each of the Thumbs Up it's Thursday days to ensure families can enjoy low-cost lunch together in-between all the activities.

Memorial Gardens in the town centre has also been turned into a family friend zone, with a pop-up sandpit complete with deckchairs, buckets and spades, garden games and a fun seaside-themed 'face-in-hole' installation.

A stretch tent has also been set up to provide a shady spot for picnics and will also host free drop-in sessions of circus skills, face painting and storytelling from 11am – 2pm each Thumbs Up It's Thursday.

More information including a programme of all the Thumbs Up events and offers can be found here.
