In normal times the budget is a big deal but it reached new heights this year.

The past 12 months have seen an unprecedented amount of government involvement in everyday life, ironically enough from a party that would instinctively want a smaller state.

But the COVID-19 pandemic has turned the world upside down in more ways than one.

So the budget this year saw many businesses hanging by a thread and facing the prospect of three more months before things will really be 'normal.'

I have never even contemplated starting my own business but sometimes you have sit back and admire entrepreneurs.

It is such a huge risk that could go either way so regardless of how the business goes they deserve at least some credit for having a go.

As for the budget itself there were always going to be mixed response but I am glad at least that people know how the next few months are going to shape up.

Here at Nub News we want to do all we can to help local businesses.
