Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a garden shed fire on Lancaster Gardens in Kingston yesterday afternoon (Thursday, 16 April).

One garden shed was completely destroyed by fire as well as a pile of garden waste.

A man was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and burns by the London Ambulance Service.

The London Fire Brigade's (LFB) 999 Control officers were first called at 3.40pm on Thursday and deployed crews from Kingston, Richmond, Twickenham, Wandsworth, and New Malden fire stations.

The fire was under control by 5.56pm.

An LFB spokesperson said the cause of the fire "was accidental and due to combustible items placed too close to a heat source".

Nub News has contacted the London Ambulance Service for more information.
