An ex-Surrey Police officer will face a misconduct hearing for allegedly testing positive for cocaine.

A hearing will take place at the force's Guildford headquarters to determine if the former PC committed gross misconduct and discreditable conduct.

Former PC Rory Lewis allegedly tested positive for the presence of cocaine on June 30.

A misconduct hearing will be held at Surrey's Police's Mount Browne headquarters on August 11, according to a hearing notification from the force.

Surrey Police said: "It is alleged that on 30 June 2023, Mr Lewis tested positive for the presence of cocaine which is a controlled Class A drug as defined in the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

"This allegation if proved would amount to discreditable conduct and gross misconduct."

The misconduct hearing will hear the facts of the case, and hearings will normally allow the person to give an explanation of their conduct and the circumstances surrounding the allegation.

There may also be witnesses called to give evidence.

Any member of the public can make a request to attend a misconduct hearing, as long as they are over 16 or over, and can do so the Surrey Police website.
