Dog walkers have been reminded they must keep their pets on a lead in Richmond and Bushy Parks over the coming months.

The rule applies to the popular green spaces from Friday 1 May until Friday 31 July.

It is to protect local deer during the birthing season.

"Dogs need to be on leads during the deer birthing season[...]," the Royal Parks website said.

"This is a mandatory rule and applies to all areas of the park."

Owners have been reminded it is an offence for a dog to chase deer in either park, and this could result in the owner's prosecution.
