Community Brain is hosting its annual Light Procession in the Ancient Market Place at 5.15pm this Sunday, 16 March.

The event celebrates Kingston's candle-making heritage and the legacy of the borough's lamplighters - - there once was a candle making factory on Villier's Road.

Attendees will embrace the town's history by remembering its heritage through a walk where they will hold lanterns made by local children and walk them to library and museum's green.

At Kingston Museum green, attendees will gather and hang the lanterns on a large lantern structure built there.

The schedule is as follows:

  • 5:15pm: lantern-making workshop
  • 5:45pm: storytelling
  • 6:00pm: procession to Kingston Museum green
