Liberal Democrat candidate Andrew MacKinlay has been elected as the new Councillor for Kingston's Chessington South ward, it was confirmed yesterday afternoon.

Mackinlay beat out 18 other candidates for the seat including an astonishing 13 from the Monster Raving Loony Party .

But it was a closely fought race in the end, as Mackinlay won just over 100 more votes than Sue Towner of the Conservatives, who came second.
