A pub in Chessington could extend its operating hours.

The Cricketers, which is located on Clayton Road, has submitted a licensing application to Kingston Council seeking permission to extend its operating hours and the hours it is allowed to supply alcohol.

If the application is approved, The Cricketers will open from 10am - 11.30pm Sunday through Wednesday, and from 10am - 1.30am Thursday through Saturday.

Currently, the pub is open from 12pm - 11.30pm on Sundays and Mondays, 12pm - 11pm Tuesday through Thursday, and 12pm - 12am on Fridays and Saturdays.

The pub also hopes to supply alcohol from 10am - 11pm Sunday through Wednesday, and from 10am - 1am Thursday through Saturday.

Additionally, it would like to host live music, indoor sporting events, recorded music, and events similar to recorded or live music during the times of 10am - 11pm Sunday through Wednesday and 10am - 1am Thursday through Saturday.

The variation will also request the addition of the following nonstandard timings:

  • To include the standard hours plus one extra hour for all Bank Holidays, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day.
  • From the start of standard timing on New Year's Eve to the start of standard timing on New Year's Day.

The Cricketers says it will also be requesting the addition of the following seasonal variation, being an additional hour to the standard and non-standard times on the day when the summertime commences.

It added: "This variation will further request the amendment of the following conditions: Designated door supervisors, who have been licensed by the Security Industry Authority (SIA), are to be on duty from 9pm when alcohol is likely to be sold or supplied beyond midnight.

Door supervisors are also to be employed on occasions when karaoke, or a disco with dancing is provided, or in consultation with the Police when a major televised international sporting event is provided, to:

  • The requirement for SIA registered door supervisors shall be risk assessed prior to an event or function taking place.
  • The risk assessment shall be completed at least seven days before the event.
  • Risk assessments for events will be kept on the premises for a period of 12 months and be made available upon request to an Officer or relevant authority."

Residents have until 11 June to submit representations for this application and can do so here.

Andri and his family have been so brilliant with us regulars and the pub has never been run better and since their takeover the pub has welcomed new faces which is great for the community

The cricketers has finally lost its reputation of not being family friendly etc

I welcome the late licence to be honest, pubs are shutting by the day and it's important to keep places like this open
