A car has crashed through the barriers at one of the gates to Richmond Park.

The incident took place near the Ham gate of the park.

According to an eyewitness a cyclist has been injured.

They told Nub News: "Bad crash in Richmond Park this morning 9am. Female cyclist also injured. Police in attendance. Top of hill from Ham Gate. Car descended hill and went straight through barriers."

The police confirmed these reports:

"Officers attended a collision between a car and a cyclist this morning near to Ham Gate in #RichmondPark resulting in the car leaving the road. The cyclist has facial injuries and has been taken to hospital. Injuries not life threatening"

David Underdown wrote on Twitter: "Didn't see how it happened, but as I passed through Ham Cross in Richmond Park about 10 minutes ago there was a cyclist down at the junction (Royal Parks Police already with her and she seemed to be sitting up and talking) and a car had gone through the barrier at the bottom of dip."

He added: "Car was over the Sudbrook, had come to rest on the grass a few metres on the up slope the other side. Two blokes standing by the car chatting."
