A driver arrested under suspicion of drink driving after colliding with a bollard in Kingston has been released following further questioning by the Met.

Witnesses in the town centre first called the police at 3:37pm yesterday, Thursday 20 June, after seeing a silver Porsche drive off the one-way system towards the pedestrianised zone between Kingston station and the Rotunda.

The car hit a bollard between the road and the pavement, preventing any injuries to passersby.

Photos on social media show the extent of the damage, with the vehicle's front bumper being crushed in the incident.

The 48-year-old driver was unharmed, while a female passenger was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The Metropolitan Police have released the following statement:

"Police were called at 3:37pm on Thursday, 20 June to reports of a road traffic collision in Clarence Street, KT1.

"Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a car in collision with a bollard.

"The female passenger of the car was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

"A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

"He was taken to a west London police station and following further enquiries he was released with no further action."
