A burst sewer pipe in Kingston Vales yesterday (10 September) has prompted Thames Water engineer to carry out two weeks of repairs.

Thames Water received reports of a sewage leak on the A308 in Kingston Vale and engineers attended the same day. The public was notified at 5:38am this morning.

A Thames Water spokesperson said: "the engineers "identified a collapsed sewer which requires an excavation and emergency permit to repair."

Work is due to begin today and will be carried out over the next two weeks.

The spokesperson added: "Two-way traffic lights will be put in place whilst the repair is ongoing, and we'd like to apologise to local people for any disruption caused during this time."

The nearby sewage pumping station will close whilst repairs are being carried out.

Affected areas are being disinfected and cleaned up this morning with tankers to remove sewage from the site and reduce impact on the environment.

The spokesperson advised: "To ensure customers can continue to flush their loos, tankers will attend the site every day to remove excess waste from the sewer network."

Thames Water has not received any other reports of sewage leaks in the area.
