Lidl has today confirmed that its refreshed Chessington store will reopen on Thursday 5 December following an extension and refurbishment.
To mark the occasion, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held, with the Mayor of Kingston, Liz Green, in attendance.
Located on Leatherhead Road, the store will continue to open from 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays, but with enhanced features designed to improve the shopping experience.
The refurbished store's floorplan spans 1,066m², and is home to Lidl's renowned bakery, an expanded chiller section, and improved car parking.
The store retains its beloved Middle of Lidl, as well as customer toilets with baby changing facilities.
Shoppers can also look forward to Lidl Plus offers and complimentary food sampling throughout the reopening weekend.
With Christmas just around the corner, residents can stock up on festive treats, such as Deluxe Crisps in seasonal flavours like Pigs in Blankets and Lobster Cocktail (£1.25), Deluxe All Butter Mince Pies (£2.99), and Deluxe Gift-Wrapped Panettone (£9.99).
This multi-million-pound investment brings more than just an enhanced shopping experience, it has also created a handful of new jobs, whilst existing colleagues remain–all receiving one of the highest pay rates in the retail sector.
Max Clapton, Regional Head of Property at Lidl GB, said: "We're excited to be reopening our Chessington store just in time for the festive season.
"Having served the local community for over a decade, we're confident that our bigger, better store will enhance the shopping experience for all.
He continued: "With demand for our high-quality, affordable products continuing to rise, we're thrilled to offer an improved store that meets the needs of our customers.
"We know the community has been eagerly awaiting this reopening, and we're sure it will have been worth the wait."
This year also marks Lidl's 30th anniversary in Great Britain, underscoring three decades of providing shoppers with its unbeatable combination of quality and affordability.
With more customers choosing to shop at Lidl, the discounter has consistently been named the fastest growing bricks-and-mortar supermarket for over a year.
