A former pub in the heart of Kingston upon Thames remains up for sale after first closing its doors in 2019.
The Cricketers, fronting Fairfield South near its junction with Mill Street on the South side of Fairfield Recreation Ground, was a cornerstone of the local community before shutting shop three years ago.
The boozer was a hub for live music with an upstairs 100-capacity venue and traditionally held weekly pool and darts tournaments as well as quiz nights.
After a change in ownership in 2017 the new buyer was determined to seek residential planning, however, after an admirable campaign by the local community, The Cricketers reopened in 2018 as a pub and a live music venue.
Upsettingly so, the pub was unable to rekindle its communal spirit with locals pointing to the absence of its traditional gaming and music nights that had made it such a beloved spot for locals to visit.
Since its closure in 2019, at least four interested parties have been in contact to express an interest in taking over the pub but have ultimately been put off by the over-inflated asking price.
The Cricketers, which also features two bars, two outdoor patios and a two-bedroom flat and two-bedroom cottage, is currently on the market with Sidney Phillips with a freehold price of £1,675,000 and a leasehold of £15,000 and is being advertised as suitable for alternative community or commercial uses.
