Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust re-imagine daytime charity walk
By Chris Moore 17th Apr 2026
Kingston locals are being invited to "step out together" this September for Walk This Way sponsored by Veolia, a new-look charity walk supporting patients, families and staff at Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust.
Formerly known as the Night to Remember Walk, the event has been reimagined as a daytime experience, offering three scenic riverside routes of 3.5 miles, 7.5 miles or 15 miles, making it accessible for walkers of all ages and abilities.
Walk This Way will take place on Saturday, 5 September 2026, starting and finishing in Canbury Gardens in Kingston.
Participants can choose a route and set off at staggered start times throughout the day, with all walks finishing between 5.30pm and 7pm.
Whether walkers are taking part to remember someone special, to say thank you for NHS care, to challenge themselves or simply to enjoy the journey with friends and family, every step will help fund vital enhancements to patient care across the community.
Registration is now open, with a limited number of early bird places available. All participants will receive a Walker T‑shirt as part of their entry.
Funds raised through Walk This Way will support projects, equipment and improvements that go beyond what NHS funding alone can provide, helping to make a meaningful difference when it matters most.
Last year, participants in the charity's Night to Remember Walk raised £50,000, which helped fund the introduction of contrast enhanced mammography at Kingston Hospital.
This innovative technology offers a faster and more cost‑effective alternative to breast MRI for selected patients, helping clinicians diagnose breast cancer with greater certainty, reduce waiting times and ease anxiety during an already difficult time.
