Performing Arts Workshops

The workshops will run at Teddington Methodist Church, located in 1 Stanley Rd, Teddington TW11 8TP (Credit: Nub News)

Got a little one who loves performing arts? Well, this one might be for you as Boundless Arts is hosting three performing arts workshops in Teddington this February Half Term.

The workshops will run at Teddington Methodist Church on Stanley Road on Monday, 16, Tuesday, 17, and Wednesday, 18 February, with early and late drop off options.

You also have the option of signing your child up for one day (£5), two days (£55) or three days (£70).

During the workshops, your child will experience an hour of each discipline (acting, dancing and singing), as well as an ensemble piece (whole company number).

There will also be lunchtime and water breaks.

The children will be split into three groups (dependent on age) and they will stay in these groups throughout their time with Boundless Arts. However, if your child has a friend they wish to be in the same group as, you can let Boundless Arts know.

Speaking about the workshops, Boundless Arts said: "Our workshops are delivered in a very relaxed setting where creativity comes to life through games, activities and confidence building exercises."

Elizabeth I's Great Gift Off at Hampton Court Palace

Hampton Court Palace has a new event coming this February Half Term (Credit: Historic Royal Palaces)

Just because it is Half Term, that does not mean that your little ones need to forget everything they have learned in school. So, if you want your kids to keep up with their studies, why not show them a bit of history with this Elizabeth I-themed event at Hampton Court Palace, which is running from 14 – 22 February.

The event description says: "Queen Elizabeth I has demanded a gift and the whole palace is desperate to obey! The best gift will gain the greatest reward, the Queen's favour, so it's a fight for first place.

"Four courtiers are already in the running to present their gift, with an intriguing mix of ideas, from dancing and poetry to toilets!

"Find out what each courtier will gift and gather information about Elizabeth I and her world, then meet her yourself to see if you can beat them with a fabulous gift idea of your own.

"Discover live performances across the palace throughout your visit. Scenes will run daily 10.30am – 3.30pm."

You can find out more and pre-book your tickets here for an unforgettable day of family fun this half term. Members go free.

Show at the Rose Theatre

The stage adaptation of Onjali Q. Raúf's 'The Boy at the Back of the Class' will run at Kingston's Rose Theatre from 11 February (Credit: Tilly O'Brien/Manuel Harlan)

There is nothing better for bringing the family together than seeing a family-friendly theatre production, and the Rose Theatre has plenty to choose from.

However, a good choice this February Half Term would be Rose Theatre and Children's Theatre Partnership's stage adaptation of  Onjali Q. Raúf's multi award-winning children's book The Boy at the Back of the Class, which begins on 11 February and runs at the Rose until May.

Based on the novel by Onjali Q. Raúf, adapted by Nick Ahad, and directed by Monique Touko, The Boy at the Back of the Class is a timely, humorous and heart-warming story about the power of kindness, engaging children and their families in discussions around refugee rights.

The play's synopsis says: "There used to be an empty chair at the back of the class, but now a new boy called Ahmet is sitting in it. He's nine years old (just like me), but he's very strange. He never talks and never smiles and doesn't like sweets – not even lemon sherbets, which are my favourite!

"After learning that he has fled his own war-torn country, Ahmet's classmates have 'The Greatest Idea in the World' – a magnificent plan to reunite Ahmet with his family. An unexpected and often hilarious adventure follows, all topped off with a terrific twist.

"Told from a child's perspective, balancing heart and humour, The Boy at the Back of the Class highlights the power of friendship and kindness in a world that doesn't always make sense and reminds us that everyone needs a place to call home."

Tickets are on sale now and can be booked via the Rose's website here.
