Nub News and landmarks local to Kingston have won places in a new edition of Monopoly, which has been a part of national life and Christmas gatherings for generations.

The new Richmond upon Thames version of the game celebrates some of the area's best-known places plus a number of local charity and community groups - many which will be familiar to Kingston residents.

The decision to include Nub News and the other groups was mainly based on recommendations from local residents.

This shows that Nub News, which set up in Kingston at the start of 2021, has become a respected and reliable provider of news and comment across the entire borough with thousands of people viewing our website and weekly newsletters.

In the game, both the squares and cards take on a Richmond upon Thames flavour and feel, with landmarks such as Teddington high street, Twickenham stadium, Richmond Park and Bushy Park all represented.

Five local charities have also been recognised for their contribution to the community, gaining 'Community Chest' spots on the board.

These include the Vineyard Community Centre, Ruils, SPEAR London, the People Hive and ARC - Animal Rescue & Care.

Bosses at Winning Moves UK, who are producing the game under license from Hasbro, said the game allows players to 'explore the charming borough of Richmond upon Thames and discover some of its most remarkable properties'.

Chief executive and co-founder of Nub News, Karl Hancock, said: "We are delighted that the Nub News family has been recognised in this way and will be represented on this Richmond Monopoly board.

"We aim to put your town in your pocket and our first principles is to make sure that our content remains truly local."
