IT'S HALLOWEEN week in Kingston and no place is better prepared to celebrate than Raven's Ait, which is putting on not just one but seven spooky events for the public.

The island on the Thames is best known as a wedding venue, but this week it will host a range of fantastically frightening events.

Five cinema nights have been planned and will take place from 25 to 28 October and on Halloween itself, the 31st.

There will be two screenings each night: one from 6.30-9pm, showing child-friendly films with a Halloween theme, and another from 9.30-11pm showing movies that are more suitable for grown-ups.

Films for kids include Corpse Bride, Coraline and Hocus Pocus, while adults can choose from Beetlejuice, the Halloween horror franchise, and The Conjuring.

Refreshments will be available to buy at the screenings price of a ticket includes a hot dog and drink.

The cinema building is covered and heated and bean bags are supplied. Attendees should dress warmly, though, as the door will be kept open for a flow of customers and the hall may get chilly.

Raven's Ait island will also be hosting two other events.

These include a Halloween quiz night on Friday 29 October with a £1 entry and £50 bar tab up for grabs, plus prizes for the best costume. This event starts at 8pm.

Then on Saturday 30 October the island hosts the Raven's Ait costume party with cocktails, a DJ and more prizes for the best costume. The event will run from 5pm until late.

See our event listing for more information and how to book.
