Kingston Walking Football Club 70+ aims to become England national champions again

For the third year running, a group of over 70s has reached the Walking Football Association (WFA) National Cup Finals.
The team, which was set up in 2023, reached the 70+ Semi-Final of the 2023 WFA National Cup which means they were in the top four teams in England in that year.
However, in 2024, Kingston Walking Football Club 70+ (KWFC) reached its target and became the 70+ WFA National Cup Champions and recognised as the best 70+ Walking Football Team in the country.
Half of the squad is now in its latter 70s with one 81 years young.
Although age is creeping up on them, the team has managed to reach the 2025 WFA National Cup Finals again, meaning, currently, it is still one of the top eight teams in the country. However, it is not ready to relinquish its title easily.
The 2025 WFA National Cup started in April with teams from the width and breadth of the whole of England. Only the Teams that consider to be of high skill enter the WFA National Cup in their respective age-groups.
The previous 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Rounds were played monthly on a knockout basis. Kingston 70+ managed to reach the last eight by travelling to their 3rd Round fixture at Norwich and beating them 2-1, in a hard-fought game, to get to the 2025 WFA National Finals Day.
The WFA National Finals Day is being held at the University of Nottingham on Saturday, 6 September 2025.
On the day, the top eight 70+ teams in the country will compete in the Quarter-Finals, then if successful, will compete in a Semi-Final to hopefully reach the Final.
You can catch up on KWFC's news and achievements by visiting its newly created website and their recently created Facebook group page 'Kingston WFC'.
