In order to further enhance our operations, a new opportunity has arisen within our dynamic and growing organisation to join our Employment Law team based at our Head Office in Tolworth as an Employment Law Consultant.

This is an exciting and diverse role that covers providing employee relations support to Head Office line managers on a wide range of topics such as contractual matters, disciplinary and grievance, discrimination and equal opportunities and employment policies.

With your highly professional approach and wealth of experience, you will demonstrate a commercial and common-sense approach and will have the knowledge, confidence, and skill to lead, influence and advise a range of stakeholders.

You will hold an integral role in driving forward HR legal compliance, working with the wider HR team to identify areas of risk and supporting them to develop and maintain controls, ensuring adherence to Laws and Regulations, and company internal regulations

We have moved to a hybrid working model with a recommended 2 days in the office per week for appropriate Head Office and Regional roles, empowering our teams to choose how and where they work best. We feel it is important that, where possible, we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible and trust our teams to determine the right environments that work most effectively for them

What you'll do

  • Providing Employee relations advice to Head Office Management including D&G, performance improvement, flexible working, probation, short and long-term absence management
  • Holding drop-in sessions at Head Office to build relationships & encourage early support & guidance
  • Creating and delivering Employment Law training at Head Office
  • Conducting D&G hearings and appeals as appropriate
  • Guiding/supporting change management
  • Influencing & supporting Employment legal compliance
  • Interpreting Head Office Employee Relation related data, providing analysis and commercial based solutions
  • Identify training needs and develop training/upskilling materials to support enhanced employee relations
  • Overseeing HR compliance Management for Employment Law and the wider HR Department
  • Collaborate and support the HR department in the identification and mitigation of risk, both laws and regulations, including Company internal regulations
  • Participate in the identification and delivery of HR compliance projects/continuous improvement initiatives to improve HR compliance and increase knowledge and awareness within the business
  • Supporting on HR compliance audits
  • Ad-hoc tasks as and when required.

What you'll need

  • A legal qualification/ CIPD Level 7 (with specialist EL/advanced EL optional units) is desirable
  • Up-to-date knowledge of all aspects of the law relevant to the job
  • Ability to implement commercially based, practical advice to support employee experience and to mitigate risks
  • Ability to influence stakeholders, with strong communication and influencing skills
  • Previous experience in an HR Compliance role / carrying out HR Compliance activities is desirable
  • Demonstrated Project planning and implementation skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience within a retail or hospitality environment would be advantageous

Non-qualified Lawyer salary range: £49,500 up to £66,000 depending on experience

Qualified Lawyer salary range: £60,500 up to £82,500 depending on experience
