We are looking to appoint a DT Specialist for the role of Head of Creative Faculty to start on 13 April 2026. The successful applicant will lead and manage the professional community of creative subjects' teachers (Product Design, Textiles, Art and Food Tech). You will ensure the academy achieves its targets through appropriate schemes of work, effective assessment tracking and intervention. You will lead on our well-established creative subjects curriculum and assist in the design of an engaging and challenging curriculum. You will be expected to teach GCSE and A-level DT.

You will have:

  • Experience of having designed, implemented and evaluated effective, imaginative and stimulating schemes of work and of leading successful enrichment programmes including establishing a high achieving department within a large school.
  • Experience of improving the quality of teaching and learning
  • Experience leading a team and/or working to support the significant success of others, including professional development and effective management of underperformance.
  • Effective and systematic behaviour management
  • The ability to motivate and challenge learners of all abilities.
  • The resolve and enthusiasm to make a real difference to the lives of students.

About Us

Ark Putney Academy opened in September 2012 as part of the Ark network in the London Borough of Wandsworth. We're a mixed school with 760 students, ranging from year 7 through to sixth form.
