Kingstonian couldn't recover after a nightmare first half caused them to lose 3-0 away against Canvey Island in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

Connor Hubble scored from the penalty spot, before Bradley Sach grabbed a first half brace to leave the K's down and out by the break.

Neither side managed to get anything going in the second period as the Gulls saw out a comfortable afternoon in Essex.

Kingstonian are yet to claim all three points on the road this season and this latest away defeat leaves them sat 14th in the table.

Evans Kouassi could have scored twice after just three minutes as first he shot just wide of the mark from a tight angle and then a minute later, he was played through on goal, but the striker lacked composure and he blazed his shot over the bar.

The disappointment for the hosts was not to last long as Elliot Ronto was brought down in the box and the referee pointed to the spot, which Hubble stepped up to take and slotted it beyond Sam Jackson to give Canvey Island the lead after nine minutes.

Despite taking an early lead, the Gulls had been very wasteful as Danny Parish was played through one-on-one with Jackson a few minutes later after a defensive error but he couldn't keep his finish on target.

Sach struck the post before he got his first as Kouassi whipped in a cross into the forward and he applied the finishing touch to double Canvey's lead in a game where they should have been out of sight before the half hour mark.

Tyrese Owen did manage to offer a level of threat for Kingstonian as he got clear and fired a powerful shot goalward and forced Bobby Mason to make a good stop to deny him.

With the final kick of the first half it was three when Sach found space on the edge of the area and tucked his finish beyond Jackson to kill the game off at the break.

Sach could have grabbed his hat-trick after half-time when Danny Parish got down the side and cut it back to him, but his touch let him down and he was closed down before he could get the shot away.

The second half was something of a non-event with Kingstonian attempting to apply pressure but were unable to create much of note, they came as close as they did all game with two minutes to play as a corner was swung in and headed towards goal but struck the bar.
