Kingstonian won their first league away game of the year as a Great Evans free-kick proved to be enough for three points against Enfield Town.

Evans hit a low free-kick halfway through the opening period to give Kingstonians the lead going in at the break following a dominant display.

Despite sustained pressure from Enfield, a strong rear-guard effort and the woodwork coming to their rescue multiple times, the K's hung on for the win.

This win is Spencer Knight's first in the league and lifts Kingstonian four points above the relegation places.

The K's had an early chance to take the lead as Lee Lewis threaded a pass beyond the defensive line to set Evans away one-v-one with the goalkeeper, but Nathan McDonald held his nerve and made the save.

But after 26 minutes they took the lead as Joseph Boachie was brought down on the edge of the penalty area following a dazzling run, before Evans stepped up and drilled the set piece low to the 'keeper's side, McDonald was unsighted by the bodies in front of him and could only push the ball into the back of the net.

A wonderful first half kept going for Knight's men as they kept up the pressure and a fine move saw the ball pulled back for Declan Skura, but his low shot was pushed around the post.

The dominance continued after sloppy play from Enfield allowed Boachie to nip in and win the ball on the halfway line and canter forward before slicing his effort wide of the mark.

There was one last big chance of the first half for Kingstonian to grab a second as Skura delivered in a low cross that Lewis got on the end of and flicked a header low across the face of goal and out for a goal kick.

Enfield were a different team after the break following a presumably stern half-time team talk and before long Marcus Wyllie hit the post before Juevan Spencer and Lewis Taaffe both struck the crossbar.

Despite being pinned back like this, Kingstonian still offered a threat on the counter, following a dangerous attack from Enfield, the K's broke and Jacob Bancroft went through, but his effort was saved by McDonald.

During eight minutes of stoppage time, Enfield struck the crossbar twice, but Kingstonian managed to hold on and taste victory on the road for the first time in the Isthmian League Premier Division this season.
