Plans have been submitted to transform a vacant shop premises in Kingston into a residential property.

Mr Sithamparapillai is seeking permission to convert the ground floor of 57 Grove Lane into residential use and erect a single storey side extension.

"Firstly, the loss of the retail unit at No57 Grove Lane would not have an adverse impact on the ability of local residents to access local goods and services. Secondly, for 15 years, a part of the ground floor valuable shop area has been vacant, and it has not provided any services to the locals.

"The proposed development with additional extension will provide a high standard of accommodation which comfortably exceeds minimum standards in respect of internal space.

"In regard to change of main entrance on the side of the property provides an additional improvement to separate the living room from the functional area and enhance more comfort to the dwelling.

"The proposals will make more efficient use of the site and will allow for an improved layout the new addition is meticulously designed that it would not bring any adversely impact on to the existing building and character of the area."
