12-year-old girl looks for Kingston’s Kirstys amid global search in support of children with brain tumours

A 12-year-old girl, Kirsty, is looking for everyone in the world that shares her name for fun, and in support of children like her with a brain tumour. And now she is on the hunt in Kingston.
In about six weeks she has found over 13,000 across seven continents and 50 countries, and they are all on a map alongside their supportive messages and photos.
She has been on BBC Breakfast, Finland's national broadcaster, CBS News, NZTV and more, but so far, the Kirstys in London have been found with word of mouth alone.
The map below shows how it looks so far.

As you can see, Kingston is currently 'mid-tier' - but there will be several thousand to find across Greater London, so she is sure she can do better.
Kirsty was diagnosed in November 2024, and has been on chemotherapy ever since. She had neurosurgery at Kings College Hospital, and is under the care of the Royal Marsden in Sutton.

Last year, she raised £120,000 with her Crochet for Cancer campaign; this year, her MyNameIsKirsty idea has so far raised more than £90,000 for brain tumour research. Around half of those that join the map make a voluntary donation in aid of OSCAR's Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity.
Kirstys and Friends of Kirsty can add themselves on her website here.
