Kingston Vale burst sewer 'aimed' to be fixed after a fortnight of repairs
Thames Water "aim[s]" to fix a burst sewer pipe in Kingston Vale by 22 September, 13 days after the incident was reported.
The company received reports of a sewage leak on the A308 and A3 in Kingston Vale, SW15 3PT, on 10 September and engineers attended the same day.
A Thames Water spokesperson said: "the engineers identified a collapsed sewer which requires an excavation and emergency permit to repair."
The company has closed the nearby sewage pumping station while it carries out the repair.
To ensure customers can continue to use their facilities Thames Water is using tankers around the clock to remove sewage from the site and reduce impact on the environment.
The spokesperson added: "Two-way traffic lights will be put in place whilst the repair is ongoing, and we'd like to apologise to local people for any disruption caused during this time."
Affected areas are being disinfected and cleaned up on 11 September with tankers to remove sewage from the site and reduce impact on the environment.
The spokesperson advised: "To ensure customers can continue to flush their loos, tankers will attend the site every day to remove excess waste from the sewer network."
Thames Water has not received any other reports of sewage leaks in the area.
