Parents warned as Kingston schools targeted by muggers
MUGGERS have targeted at least two Kingston schools in the past week and police are investigating the incidents.
Children at the Kingston Academy have been mugged and one pupil at Hollyfield School was the victim of an attempted robbery.
A spokesperson for the Met Police told Nub News: "I can confirm we're aware of these offences," but could not comment further due to the police investigation.
Police and staff members have been stationed in the area around Hollyfield School following the attempted mugging on Monday (15 November).
Children at the school have also been instructed to stay vigilant and go straight home at the end of the day.
An email to parents from headteacher Amy Jackson on Tuesday revealed concerning details about the attack.
It read: "I am writing to you after an incident which occurred after school yesterday.
"One of our students was approached by two young men and asked for his phone, during the conversation they produced a weapon to add to their level of threat.
"Fortunately no-one was hurt in the incident and the student was able to make his way back into school for support.
"The young men in question were not Hollyfield students and left the area on a bus soon after the incident.
"We believe that they are not local to Surbiton so are hopeful this will be an isolated incident."
A spokesperson for the school confirmed to Nub News that parents had been told of the attempted mugging but declined to comment further due to the police investigation.
On Facebook, a Kingston resident said two children at Kingston Academy were mugged a week earlier.
Another added that two further pupils were targeted on Tuesday (16 November).
Nub News have contacted the Kingston Academy for comment.
