Jessica Fostekew, Ria Lina, and Ian Stone to perform at charity comedy night in Kingston
Some of the UK's most popular stand-up comedians are joining forces for one night only in support of Momentum Children's Charity.
Taking place at the Arthur Cotterell Theatre at Kingston College on Thursday 3 October, Momentum's Comedy Night will see talent including Jessica Fostekew, Ria Lina, and Ian Stone all promising to bring plenty of laughter to the stage.
Fostekew is known for her roles in Motherland and Cuckoo.
Comedian, writer and actress and Have I Got News For You favourite, Ria Lina is also joining the line up, alongside Ian Stone, who is known for his regular appearances on Mock the Week.
The event is being supported by the hysterical Erich McElroy.
Talking about why he is supporting the event, McElroy said: "I can't wait to come back and host this special show for Momentum.
"Not only is it great to be on stage with such incredible talent, but it's even made better by supporting a fantastic cause."
He continued: "All these acts are amazing - and getting them on one bill, for a great cause, is what makes comedy one of the best nights out you can imagine.
"Especially on a Thursday in October. Join us. Laugh and know you've helped make a difference in a family's life at the same time."
Bianca Effemey OBE, Founder and CEO of Momentum Children's Charity said: "Our Comedy Night is back, and I can't wait to see Ian, Ria, Jessica and Erich deliver a night bursting with laughter.
"This event has become a staple in Momentum's calendar, and it is a guaranteed fun-filled night."
She continued: " Our comedians have all generously donated their time so a huge thank you to Ian, Ria, Jessica and Erich, and to Kingston College for kindly letting us use their theatre to host the event.
"If you are free on Thursday 3 October, please join us and help raise as much money as possible so we can be there for more families with seriously ill children."
Founded in 2004, Momentum Children's Charity was started when Effemey OBE was working as a receptionist on the Paediatrics Ward at Kingston Hospital.
Side effects of chemotherapy treatment can be very painful, and she became aware of the impact they were having on young cancer patients.
It became her mission to get white goods donated to the hospital which could be kept full of refreshments, providing some relief to children suffering with mouth ulcers caused by chemotherapy.
Momentum has grown from a very small charity to now supporting around 300 children undergoing treatment and 140 bereaved families every year.
Tara Sherjan, Head of Community Fundraising at Momentum decided to work for Momentum after her friend's daughter was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, during the COVID-19 pandemic and saw that her friend was struggling as only one person was allowed to visit the hospital at a time despite the girl needing various operations and chemotherapy.
Sherjan said: "My friend spoke very highly of the support she received from Momentum and what it offered to her and her family, so that is why I am at Momentum and doing what I do.
Speaking about the comedy night, Sherjan told Kingston Nub News: "I'm really excited to have three fantastic comedians to entertain Momentum supporters.
"We hope to raise £5,000 and hope that everyone has an incredibly fun evening while giving something back."
She said that the charity is "really excited to be working with Eric again who has supported the event for several years" and is "really grateful to all the supporters who attends this event and shares it with their families".
Momentum's comedy night is welcome to everyone, whether it be families using the charity's services, local businesses or local residents.
Momentum Children's Charity supports families across London, Surrey, and Sussex whose children are facing cancer or a life-challenging condition.
The charity partners with local hospitals to offer personally tailored support to the entire family through its family support workers, both in hospital and at home.
It works in tandem with the NHS but fills in the gaps that the NHS has due to restrictions on it by offering respite to families, day trips for the children, counselling sessions, and therapies.
Tickets for Momentum Children's Charity's Comedy Night are just £20 each and you can buy yours here
