A local mum has started teaching baby ballet classes in Surbiton.

Miss Danielle, a mum of two, began running her business, babyballet Twickenham, Richmond & Kingston during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking about starting her own business, Miss Danielle told Kingston Nub News: "I started babyballet® Twickenham, Richmond & Kingston upon Thames in January 2019 in just Twickenham and have gradually expanded into Richmond and Kingston.

"We've run classes at Wacky Kingdom in Kingston for the last two years and this summer, I was finally able to purchase Surbiton and are now opening Saturday classes this September."

She added: "I'm so excited to be opening in Surbiton as it's where I am currently raising my own young family and the wonderful friendly, relaxed vibe means our classes are the perfect fit.

"There are lots of wonderful upper dance schools in the area but not as many classes for younger ones who perhaps aren't quite ready for the 'traditional' style of classes.

"The ethos of babyballet® is that EVERYONE should be able to dance, we're toddler, pre-school and early years specialists meaning we know exactly how to make a little ones first dance classes super magical."

Miss Danielle grew up in Wimbledon and started dancing at the age of three.

"Although my ballet classes weren't half as friendly and magical as babyballet®, classes I still got the dancing bug and haven't stopped dancing since," she said.

After sixth form college, where Miss Danielle  gained a triple distinction in Dance BTEC, she went to Chichester University and achieved a 2:1 in BA (Hons) Contemporary Dance.

Post university, the ballet teacher performed with Nonsuch History and Dance Company and the London Cheerleaders.

Miss Danielle said: "Whilst performing I started working for babyballet® Clapham and I fell in love with teaching the pre-school age.

"babyballet® was my dream job, dancing and spreading the joy of dance plus teaching little ones, something I have always been interested in doing too.

"I decided to take the leap in to running my own franchise in 2019 and have gone from owning one small postcode ( TW2) to now owning most of the Richmond & Kingston upon Thames borough and running around 28 classes a week."
