The Kingston borough starred at lifestyle magazine Time & Leisure's 2023 Food and Culture Awards ceremony on Monday evening.

Celebrating its 11th year, the event champions the very best food and culture spots throughout south west London and Surrey chosen by the magazine's readers.

Hundreds of cultural and hospital businesses were in attendance at Wimbledon Theatre on Monday for the ceremony whilst the winning recipients took to the stage to collect their coveted awards.

The ten categories included ten finalists with establishments from Kingston featuring regularly including a remarkable four overall winners.

First to claim top prize was Surbiton's The French Tarte which was crowned the Best/Coffee House. Established in 2011, the Surbiton spot offers beautiful artisan breads and fine patisserie alongside its popular breakfast and lunch menu and fabulous afternoon tea. With locally roasted coffee and organic teas, residents are able to enjoy a slice of France in Surbiton's favourite spot.

Kingston's renowned Roz Ana also secured a number one spot receiving the Best Service Award. Just a short distance from the hustle and bustle of Kingston town centre and a short drive from Surbiton, Richmond and Wimbledon, the award-winning local is a top place to experience the finest Indian cuisine from across the Sub-Continent, in a comfortable, chic, buzzy setting.

Surbiton then claimed its second winner of Monday's awards ceremony as the French Table was crowned Fine Dining Restaurant Of The Year. Eric and Sarah Guignard have been running the eatery for over 20 years offering guests a contemporary French menu in a laid back and comfortable setting.

Moving on to the arts, Kingston's Rose Theatre claimed top spot for readers' Favourite Entertainment Venue. Founded by Sir Peter Hall, and modelled on the original Elizabethan Rose Theatre on London's Bankside, Rose Theatre is the largest producing theatre in South West London offering a diverse programme attracting the industry's very best actors and directors.
