A South London neighbourhood could soon be transformed with new tower blocks, a bigger park and new public gardens under fresh proposals.
Developer Hollybrook has revealed plans to build around 125 new flats on Richmond Road in Kingston up to 13 storeys tall.
The linear park which currently runs between Richmond Road and Kingsgate Road would also be widened and redesigned at both ends under the plans. A new studio would be built at Kingston College and linked to the existing building with a public square.
More than 700 square metres of outdoor public space is included in the plans - mainly landscaped gardens planted with grass, shrubs and trees - along with cycle parking spaces. There would be no car parking spaces except for those with Blue Badges.
The proposals are at the consultation stage and could change before a full planning application is submitted to Kingston Council. The height of the proposed buildings is still under discussion and could vary between eight and 13 stores tall.
The new homes would range from one-bed to three-bed flats. All residents would have access to a private balcony or terrace, rooftop garden and communal areas.
A statement on the website for the proposals reads: "The scheme has been designed to complement the contemporary buildings in the immediate vicinity.
"Our scheme aims to deliver high-quality sustainable housing, including affordable homes. It will provide improved facilities for Kingston College while also improving the quality of life for all local people by integrating new green and attractive public spaces into the surrounding public areas.
It adds: "A central public square between the two buildings will provide a lively and exciting space to exhibit art. We have been exploring this with Kingston College and hope that it will prove an extension to the college's well-known Penny Gallery. Alongside this will be a new versatile studio for the college, which could be used as a new facility for textiles."
