Petrol queues on the London Road A308 in Kingston are causing severe traffic jams this morning.

Major congestion is affecting the road from Kingston Grammar School to the roundabout at the bottom of Kingston Hill, near the hospital.

The chaos comes as drivers rush to get petrol from the Shell Garage in Norbiton which recently had a delivery.

According to the AA the disruption started at 9.30am this morning.

The Kingston Uni Bus warned customers of the queues in a Twitter post.

It said: post said: "Update for you, the petrol station at bottom of Kingston Hill has had a delivery so queues now forming and stretching into one way system with delays occurring, if you need to be somewhere please plan ahead."

The traffic chaos follows several days of congestion in Kingston which some are calling the worst they've ever seen.

On Sunday 26 September, the Kingston cycling campaign said on Twitter: "Not seen traffic congestion this bad around Kingston for a long time.

"#RichmondRoad queuing back to Tiffin Girls'. #carmageddon. Lower Ham Road LTN (walking & cycle route) effectively stopping rat-running in this scenario."

Petrol queues in Hampton Court also caused major delays this morning.
