Kingston and Surbiton MP Sir Ed Davey has announced the winner to his annual Christmas Card competition.

Each year Ed holds a Christmas Card Competition open to pupils from schools across his constituency. This year's theme is "Christmas in our community".

Explaining the competition, Sir Ed said: "Every year the Christmas card I get printed and sent around to one and a half thousand people is designed by a local young person."

Four categories are broken down into age groups (4-6, 7-10, 11-15 and SEND under 19s); Nub News visited Ed at his constituency office last week and watched him judge one of the categories.

All schools, including scouts and guides, are invited to send their designs to Ed's constituency office. This year Ed's office received entries from 15 different local schools.

Sitting down at the table in the front room of his office, Ed emptied a folder of entries from one category and analysed each picture individually. One by one, he set them aside in a process of elimination.

Marvelling at some of the colours and designs of the 4-6 year olds, he set some aside for highly commended to acknowledge the magnificent effort the children had put in.

The overall winner (age 11-15) was Chiara Pischedda from Holy Cross School, New Malden.

Nub News met with Ed last Monday to watch him judge the ages 4-6 category.

Many Christmas cards featured iconic landmarks from the borough including Kingston Bridge, Surbiton station, and the River Thames. Others drew notable London images such as Harrods and giant Christmas tree in Trafalgar square. Ed's workplace, Big Ben and the houses of parliament, also got a feature.
