Kingston and Surbiton MP, Ed Davey, opens the new Healthcare Suites at Kingston University

On Monday, 24 February, the MP for Kingston and Surbiton, Ed Davey, officially opened and toured Kingston University's brand-new healthcare suites at the university's Kingston Hill Campus, which will be used by over 2,000 students across several nursing degrees.

While on the tour, he spoke with staff members and students to learn more about how the new facilities benefit their course. 

The Liberal Democrat leader had the opportunity to see the mental health nursing suite, a hospital ward, a fully interactive immersion suite and learn more about midwifery.

Furthermore, he was able to participate in a CPR demonstration with some of the students.

Following the tour, Ed Davey MP gave a short speech to members of Kingston University's staff and students. He highlighted the importance of training up nurses and the important role nurses have in our healthcare system.

Once he finished giving his comments, Ed Davey MP, Professor Helen Laville, and Professor Kathy Curtis cut a ribbon to mark the official opening of the healthcare suites.

Following the opening, Kingston and Surbiton MP, Ed Davey, said: "It was an absolute joy to get to see the new healthcare suites at the Kingston Hill Campus.

"I was amazed at the variety and depth of what is offered to the health and care students through these new facilities. 

"The healthcare suites will provide fantastic hands-on experience to people who are doing a nursing degree at Kingston University.

"Thank you to everyone at Kingston University for inviting me to tour, allowing me to open the healthcare suites, and for providing such an amazing opportunity to thousands of nursing students."
