Sir Ed Davey, MP for Kingston and Surbiton and leader of the Liberal Democrats, has teamed up with Bath Philarmonia's Young Carers' Choir in creating a new Christmas single Love is Enough.

Love is Enough was co-created by six young carers and former young carers with Bath Phil's Creative Learning Team as a tribute to the caring responsibilities of young carers and the bond they share with the people they care for.

The idea of a Christmas release was Ed Davey's - inspired by his own time as a chorister when he was also a young carer as a teenager.

Recently, he was sent a recording of him singing a solo at a Christmas carol service with his choir in 1978 as a 13-year-old and after hearing Love is Enough and the work of the amazing young carers with Bath Philharmonia, he asked if they would like to work together to release a single at Christmas for the Carers Trust and Bath Phil.

As a carer for his Mum when he was a teenager and now for his severely disabled son John, Ed Davey wanted to shine a light on carers this Christmas and bring attention to the vital work that they do.

All money raised from downloads and streams of the charity single will go to the Carers Trust and Bath Phil.

The song has already received critical acclaim with influential pop culture journalist Hannah Verdier calling the song "really really beautiful" on Radio 4's World at One last week.

Gareth Malone, the choirmaster from the popular TV series The Choir, also praised the song on BBC Breakfast describing it as "powerful" and "a really sweet thing to do".

It should come as no surprise that critics are lauding the track as it is produced by Brian Rawling, the person who produced the legendary Cher's Believe, which earned him a Grammy.

Speaking about the song, Ed Davey said: "It is truly heartwarming to see that this song is already resonating with people across the country and is surging up the charts.

"All the credit must go to the amazing young carers at Bath Phil. The optimism and joy which they bring to this song is genuinely beautiful.

"I know from my experience as a young carer just how challenging times can be and to see this group come together like this and produce something so powerful should inspire us all.

"Carers and the vital work that they do are far too often forgotten, so this Christmas let us show that we are thinking of them and supporting them through what has been an incredibly tough time for them all."
