Firefighters respond to Chessington incident as car crashes into woodland

A car has driven off the road into 'dense woodland' along Clayton Road in Chessington this morning.

Responding to a call at 11:20am on 11 July, Kingston London Fire Brigade (LFB) said the vehicle 'careered' off the road, travelling 'a significant distance in dense woodland before coming to a stop'.

An ambulance also attended the scene, taking the couple in the car during the incident to hospital. 

No updates on their condition have been released at time of publishing, and no other injuries have been reported by emergency services.

Crews from both Kingston and Sutton fire stations left the scene at 12:31pm.

An LFB Spokesperson said: "Firefighters were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Clayton Road in Chessington.

"One car was involved. Two people were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service.

"The Brigade was called at 11:20am and the incident was over for firefighters at 12:31pm. Crews from Kingston and Sutton fire stations attended the scene."
