Last night, Tuesday 15 September, Australian indie electro pop band Confidence Man held a Banquet Records-run concert at Pryzm in Kingston to promote their new album LA LA LA, which comes out on Friday, 18 October.

Despite the pop group starting slightly late, they did not leave a sour taste among the audience who didn't stop dancing for the whole set.

Starting a little after 8pm, Confidence Man began with a little DJ set its masked DJ before lead singers, Janet Planet and Sugar bone burst onto the stage busting some very flamboyant dance moves.

With Janet wearing only a tiny bralette and hotpants, and Sugar wearing an open black shirt and suit pants, it was obvious that the iconic duo really do not care about what people think.

It is unknown whether the pair are a romantic item in real life, but what I loved most about the performance was the chemistry between the two eccentric Aussies as they bounced around the stage and grinded on each other.

Beginning their part of the set with infamous bop 'Now You Do', Confidence Man's lead singers had the audience two stepping and chanting along to the lyrics from start to finish.

And they kept the audience consistently engaged throughout by spraying them with champagne and shooting them with confetti at the end.

Ensuring that the audience were as much captivated by the band's frontpeople as they were by the electric beats and witty lyrics, Sugar even whipped his shirt off mid set, revealing his fantastically built eight pack.

I couldn't help but think that he reminded me of Ryan Gosling's Ken in Greta Gerwig's Barbie film.

My favourite part of the performance was Confidence Man's rendition of 'C.O.O.L. Party' as Sugar and Janet, in perfect synchronisation, drove imaginary cars and had the crowd spelling out 'cool' with their hands, like one would with the YMCA.

It was a fantastic night filled with colour and imbued with electricity.

My only complaint is that it was a very short set, finishing just before 9pm.

However, many fans will have joined Confidence Man further by attending their after party in Kingston's nightclub Bacchus.

If it wasn't a Tuesday night, I'd definitely have joined, but unfortunately an early night seemed like the more sensible option.

Confidence Man first began in Brisbane in 2016 and released its first album Confident Music for Confident People in April 2018.
