Doctors from Kingston hospital are completing a triathlon this summer to raise money for the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Consultant anaesthetists Nicci Richards, Jeremy Boyle and Andrew Tan are competing as a team in the 2021 London Triathlon on 7 August.

The trio, who call themselves the Dural Punctures, are raising money for Kingston Hospital Charity which raises money for equipment, comforts, research and amenities at the hospital that are above and beyond the scope of the NHS.

They are specifically raising money for the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU), which delivers care to its sickest patients.

ICUs across the UK have come under pressure since the start of the pandemic, due to the surge in Covid cases and patients needing ventilators.

In a statement on their JustGiving page the team said: "The Charity relies on the generosity of the local community and it is this contribution that has helped to transform our local hospital into an outstanding one.

"All the funds raised will directly benefit our patients and their families. Please support us if you can."

They added: "Nicci will brave the waters of Victoria Dock and swim 1.5km, Jeremy will power 40km to Westminster and Andrew will finish in style with a 10km run."
