We're looking for a Design & Engineering Lead to join our Natural Resources team, working on our wastewater and non-infrastructure projects for Thames Water.Location : from home and sites across the Thames Valley RegionHours : Permanent, Full Time - flexible hours are available if preferred, just let us know upon application Responsibilities We're looking for an experienced Design & Engineering Lead to join our NRNN water team managing the Thames Water framework. As a highly experienced and skilled Design and Engineering Manager you'll lead activities of a portfolio of projects of critical importance to our client. Managing multidisciplinary design teams, you'll ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective wastewater solutions.In your day to day you'll:
  • Lead the design process for WWTP projects from concept through detailed design and into construction support.
  • Lead collaboration with internal engineering teams, external consultants, and contractors to ensure integrated and buildable design solutions.
  • Implement best-practice design methodologies, ensuring high-quality, right-first-time outputs driving design excellence.
  • Work closely with the delivery and commercial teams to ensure best technical solutions are delivered in accordance with the customer requirements for time, quality and budget.
  • Undertake technical reviews of the contract documentation to ensure Kier's commercial position is protected.
  • Manage design deliverables, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with project milestones and client expectations.
What are we looking for? This Design & Engineering Lead role is great for you if you have:
  • A strong background in civil, mechanical, or process engineering you'll have with a proven track record in managing complex water infrastructure project.
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent, with extensive experience in water-sector projects
  • Experience leading and managing design teams, with a track record of effective communication, innovation, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to manage projects from initial concept to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in relevant design disciplines, such as wastewater non-infrastructure design.
