Kingston Council will fly the Pride flag on 26th February to mark LGBT+ History Month

February is LGBT+ History Month, and Kingston LGBT forum have been organising a number of fun and inclusive events in celebration of their community.

Kingston Council will also be flying the rainbow flag from the Guildhall on Friday, February 26 to recognise LGBT+ History Month, a tradition which they first started in 2019 to celebrate Pride.

There are plenty of ways for local LGBT+ residents to get involved in the conversation and learn more about their history.

On Monday (February 21) at 2pm, you can catch LGBT+ History Month Show and Tell, where attendees are encouraged to bring an object that means something personal to them. Whether it's "a flyer from your first LGBT event or a badge from a protest, or something that wouldn't mean anything to anyone else", people are encouraged to share their stories.

On Saturday, February 27 at 8pm, you can listen out for Sam and Liam's LGBT+ Playlist and Disco, where the co-hosts will choose, play and discuss a selection of LGBT+ songs in a live 'desert island discs' style Zoom.

This will be followed by an LGBT+ home disco, with upbeat tunes for people to dance to from the comfort of their living rooms. Sam and Liam are also open to song suggestions!

For LGBT+ residents, the forum also holds regular online activities to bring their local community together, including weekly online coffee mornings, yoga sessions and pub quizzes.
